In the previous post I told you about the new currency symbol for Indian Rupee. But as we know about the slow government machinery of India,  it’ll take at least an year to implement the symbol. This is really tough to believe as anything in the technology world updates with speed of light. So in order make our Indian Rupee symbol common to the whole world lets include in our day to day work.

An Indian based company in Manglore called Foradian Technologies Pvt Ltd has created a font called Rupee_Foradian. Which will make you type the rupee symbol like the US dollar symbol. The font uses the key above the TAB key on your keyboard to print Rupee symbol on the screen.

How to use Rupee Symbol key?

  1. Download the font from this link.
  2. Paste the font file in the font folder in the windows control panel.
  3. Open your text editor such as Microsoft word and select the font “Rupee Foradian”.
  4. Now press the key above the TAB key. You’ll get the Rupee Symbol on the screen.
  5. Don’t worry about the rest of the symbol on that key. Use shift for the Tilde (~) and ctrl for the other symbol.

The daily newspapers has already started using it. We should also start and make it popular as fast as possible to force the Indian Government speed up the process.
