Look and Feel

First impression of the phone was not bad at all, it really looks nice and fits very well in your hand. The phone has a 3.8 inch WVGA capacitive touch screen surrounded by a chrome lining which really makes the device looks good. The back of the phone has a rubberised finish which gives a nice grip to the phone.

Performance

It has a 480×800 pixels display which is crisp and sharp. The screen is not a finger print magnet but is somewhat reflective making it hard to use in daylight. On the back of the phone it has a 5 Megapixels camera with flash which has a decent enough picture quality for a phones in this budget. The IDEOS X5 Pro comes with a 1Ghz snapdragon processor with 512 MB RAM which performed really very well during our extensive usage. We didn’t experience any lag or a need to restart the phone as experienced with the other phones in this budget.  The phone runs on Android Gingerbread operating system but the company has promised for the ICS update soon. The interface is very well customized by Huawei making the phone very easy to use.

The phone has a long lasting 1500mAh battery which is impressive indeed and lasts a full day with calls and 3G connectivity. The phone supports 2G/3G/HSDPA and WiFi. WiFi tethering is also available which helps you make the phone act like a hotspot.

The phone has a capacitive touch screen which is quite responsive but sometimes when you are typing a message or a number the phone takes an input even if you hover your finger above the keypad. And we also faced some problems while zooming out a image while in the landscape mode with the pinch zoom feature.

The sound output is good but the bundled headsets spoils the music experience. So its better to use your own stereo headsets.

Special Features

The phone has some impressive features such as streams, phone finder, cloud+, message+ developed by Huawei. Huawei Streams helps you connect with your social networking account such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn in one go. It helps you manage all your social networking account with one app only. Phone finder helps you locate your phone incase its stolen or misplaced and you can also erase all the data on the phone remotely so as to prevent unauthorized access to your private data. Message+ helps you chat, share music and pictures with your friends who also own a Huawei smartphone with the message+ app in it. And Huawei Cloud+ gives you 16 GB of cloud storage space to backup almost everything on your phone to the cloud.

On the left side of the earpiece of the handset there is a small little indicator which lights up everytime you have missed calls, SMS, social networking notifications when the phone is in the standby mode which is one of the features we really liked in the phone.
